Join up? Good lord no. They're as crazy as cut snakes.

Here, Tom Cruise giggles about Scientology's New Reality:

The famous insane laughter comes at around 4:25 and also 8:43 into the clip.

Aleteuck, who posted the clip on 17 Jamuary 2008 commented, 'In the near future you will read:
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Church of Scientology International".' However, despite the fact that YouTube responds promptly to take-down copyright claims, the clip is still available.

The clip still remains because of anonymous, we are to many, and they know they can't stop us, though they have tried.

It was this clip that first brought $cientology to the attention of anonymous,
Here's a show from the channel 'know your meme' while some details are innaccurate (ie suggesting that project chanology is over) it is a reasonably accurate history of what happened

All I can say then is that anonymous is remarkably slow on the uptake. I seem to recall criticisms of Scientology going back at least 40 years. The Register noted last September:
Scientology critics fight YouTube takedown notices
Push Me F*ck You

Net users are fighting back against attempts to remove content critical of the Church of Scientology (CoS) from YouTube.

Quote:

American Rights Counsel LLC, apparently acting on behalf of the Church of Scientology, sent 4,000 DMCA takedown notices to YouTube late last week, the Electronic Frontier Foundation reports. The notices allege copyright infringement over clips critical of the Church of Scientology.

YouTube is legally obliged to respond to such notices regardless of their merits, and as a result numerous videos were pulled. These included the BBC documentary Scientology and Me and clips posted by anti-Scientology collective Anonymous. Many accounts were suspended over the weekend as a result of the action.

Critics of Scientology have responded with DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) counter-notices, leading to the restoration of many of the affected videos and suspended channels. Some speculate that at least part of the reason for the pro-Scientology legal offensive is an attempt to uncover the real identity of critics of the church. [...]
Even so, the Cruise video to which I posted a link is still there.

Is this simply a battle of one cult against another?

L Ron Hubbard couldn't have said it better although he might have spelt it better.

We are slow on the uptake? What was your stance again? Oh yeah, ignore them and they will die. Ironic much?
Anon is not a cult, what sort of cult has no leadership, no idiology, no physical base, no true membership, and nothing to stop anyone leaving or joining whenever they want?
Counltess videos have been removed from YouTube, the Co$ has the nerve to claim copyright on it's religious symbols, that's right, could you imagin if Christianity had a copyright on the Cross? It is oy through the persistance of Anon that such videos have not been removed, and if they ever are we can just upload more.
And well pointed out, I can't spell, comes with being dyslexic, hopefully you can look past the poor spelling and deal with the arguments instead.

One of the key marks of a cult is obsession about a cultural ideal or a cultural enemy This one is a different model from the Anonymous one, but seemed to be more effective.

Eric Blair nailed it:
[...] Clover goes to the gable wall and brings Benjamin with her. She asks Benjamin to read for her what is on the gable wall. All the commandments are gone, and all that is written there now is “All animals are equal, But some animals are more equal than others.”

After this, the pigs and their sows start wearing clothes and carrying whips. They begin to have more direct dealings with the neighbouring farmers. One day, the pigs invite a number of the local farmers to inspect the farm. After the inspection, the pigs and the farmers return to the farmhouse for a celebration. After a time, loud noises of laughter and singing are heard through the windows. The other animals are overcome with curiosity, and they approach the farmhouse to see what is going on. They look through the windows to see the pigs and farmers seated around the living room table, playing cards, making speeches and congratulating one another. Mr Pilkington makes a speech telling the pigs how impressed he is with Animal Farm, especially with the hard work and poor rations of the farm animals. Napoleon makes a speech in return, expressing his happiness that the mistrust between Animal Farm and the others is now at an end. He furthermore announces that the animals will cease to address each other as “Comrade,” and that “Animal Farm” will now revert to being called “Manor Farm.” As Napoleon finishes his speech to great applause, the animals outside seem to notice something changing in the features of the pigs, but what?

As the applause dies down and the card game is resumed, the animals creep away from the window. However, they hurry back when they hear a furious argument break out. The argument is because Mr. Pilkington and Napoleon have both played an Ace of Spades at the same time. But as the animals look from Napoleon to Pilkington, from man to pig and from pig back to man, they find that they are unable to tell the difference.
Contracycle will explain to us why that is just not right.

To call Anon a cult is so lulz worthy it's unbelievable. And shows clear desperation,

It is notable how much of my past few posts you have ignored completly, but I guess you can't be expected to defend the indefensable.

Wired reports that, "'Anonymous' has struck again - this time declaring war on Australia."

Oh dear. I hope it wasn't something I said.
