Female Gamers 'Have More Sex Than Non-Gamers'

Female gamers have more sex, are happier and more sociable than non-gaming women, a study has claimed.

The findings are the polar opposite to the commonly held "nerdy" view of people who play video games.

According to a Harris Interactive survey of 2,000 adults, 55% of online gamers are women and 45% are men.

41% of women say they socialise with at least one person a day compared to just 31% of non-gamers.

And most significantly 38% have sex at least once a week - non-gaming women are less sexually active, at just 34%.

The study was commissioned by gaming site GameHouse.

Its chief gamer, Matt Hulett, said of the survey: "Maybe if we all watched a little less TV and played more games online, we'd all be having a little more sex."

Well, online gamers are younger than the general population average. Probably has something to do with it. I was more surprised by the 59% who socialise with no one in the average day. How is that even possible?

Round here it's possible to get through a shole shopping trip with the exchange of nothing but irritable simian grunts (in fact, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to do otherwise) - what struck me was the question of how these people manage at work. You might not want to socialise there, but you more or less have to unless you want to get all the crappiest jobs your colleagues can dish out.

Yes the margin is tiny for such a small sample size, nearly put this in "stuff that's too good" etc. but the headline was fun. I assume by "socialise" they mean "casual chat", and indeed it is quite possible to get through the working day without doing that. I agree age differences are likely to be a significant factor, although it should be remembered that the average age of gamers these days is over 30. As for "sex addiction", I have yet to be convinced that's a real thing.

Companies don't like chit-chat on their time. And some people don;t really hang out with others at breaks, for a variety of reasons.

They don't like you going to the toilet on their time either, but they tolerate it because the alternative would be worse. I've done crappy jobs and... well,... additional crappy jobs, but even in the worst of the lot everyone spent a large amount of time sitting around talking bollocks.

If you go out of your way to avoid it then whatever, that's your choice.
