Default TV debates for party leaders.

Lord Mandelson has said that Gordon Brown would be 'open' to having a TV debate with the leaders of the other parties, or at-least with Davy in the run up to the next election.

Davy has welcomed the chance for a TV debate and no doubt the Lib Dims would be pleased at this announcement aswell.

While these are common place in the US due to the fact that they elect a leader separately, that can not be translated directly into our system. Also given the way are politicians get on during PMQ's in the way they answer questions will this not just descend into a battle of spin doctors and give us more sound-bite politics?

Poll question: Should we have a televised debate?

yes, it'd be good for the pwn.

but i can't help but feel this is a last ditch attempt to regain the news agenda for gordy. which is a bit sad and desperate.
