What I remember is him asking for more time. What I remember is Chirac arguing that US/UK resolve had forced Saddam to increase cooperation and thus that the inspections were working and needed more time.

As I said, I was convinced that Saddam could not have a nuclear program worth a war. The lack of findings by the inspections (which, despite the lack of cooperation/dodging on Saddam's side were still occuring) was just confirming my suspicions. Whatever he had, it had to be small/insignificant.

I suspect your opinions about the war, like Blix's, were shaped sometime in late 2003...
You suspect wrong. I guess that, after having believed all the BS and deliberate exaggerations (i.e. lies) your heroes the neo-cons put out, you want to believe they were at least genuine and so that you were not an idiot for believing them...

I still prefer their BS and deliberate exaggerations from then, over your BS and deliberate exaggerations now.......compared to the facts we've seen since, they still have an edge over you when it comes to credibility.......especially if you claim Saddam was a swell guy and it all would have worked out peachy if we'd just have left the poor guy alone........

A central claim you haven't demonstrated...

Whatever

Ah well, I never claim Saddam was a swell guy (straw man) and you would need to define "all would have worked out peachy". I am pretty sure he would never have managed to develop/acquire nukes. I am pretty sure less Iraqis would have died than what you guys managed to unleash. I am pretty sure Iran would not have acquired the influence it now has. And I am pretty sure the Iraqis would not be looking askance at each others over strict denominational lines, waiting for the signal for the next pogrom/ethnic cleansing...

What would have happened after Saddam's death is anyone's guess. Too many variables. Could have been "peachy". Could be even worst than what we have now.
