Default The poor oppressed

They are the victims, don't'cha see!

Quote:
A masked gunman fired shots at police in Londonderry overnight.

Officers were responding to reports of rioting at Lecky Road on the Bogside shortly after 0100 BST on Tuesday when the shots were fired.

Petrol bombs were thrown at a police patrol car which was on fire when a gunman appeared from behind a pub and fired five shots at the vehicle from a handgun before disappearing.

No-one was injured and the gunman ran off.

Foyle MP Mark Durkan condemned the violence.

"If people don't want to listen to politicians like me, listen to the concerns and interest of the people of Derry who don't want any violence carried out anywhere in their name for any cause," he said.

Mr Durkan also said the incident showed that police should be worried about being lured into dangerous situations.

"Clearly there was a set piece to this and it underlines the point that police do have to consider whether, responding to an incident, they are being set up for something worse," he said.

Sadly no deaths or even serious injuries, better luck next time chaps.

So, hum, are every resistants always guilty in your eyes or is it just the Irish? For example, what do you think of the Palestinians? Of the Jewish in the Varsaw ghetto? Of the French maquisards? Etc.

Unsurprisingly, Noir fails to mentrion that these disturbances broke out after Orange Order marches which, if the past is basis for comparison, would have featured provocative and abusive songs. The marches themselves are an institution deliberaterly intended to drive home the idea that the Catholics are a defeated and lesser people. It's pure colonialist triumphalism and has ong been one of the main drivers of such disturbances.

Well, they aren't Irish, they're Northern Irish for starters.

As for 'other places' i don't honestly know enough about any of them to have strong support of one or the other, and having lived in Norn Iron and seeing how people who think they know about it talk about it i would not wish to do the same to other people.

But what happened on the 12th was nothing other than random violence, they can use the fact that they are 'oppressed' as an excuse, and the political hacks will start up their predictable rambles, but it is nothing more than random violence.

Lol, you mean the family day out that happens every year?

You may also like to look up the lodges that took place in the marches, you will find a record number of groups came up from the Republic to take part,

Now i don't personaly agree with the marches, due to the radical religious views which are parrellel to Orangism. But that doesn't give me the right to attempt to murder police officers.

If someone opposes the marches and wishes to peacefully protest against them then i'd be half tempted to join them, but when they resort to riots, petrol bombs and guns they can go fuck themselves

Oh yes, burning the Irish flag on bonfires, singing songs about how your ancestors slaughtered their ancestors and how you will always keep them suppressed, and making a point of marching through their neighbourhoods to hammer the point home, those are things that happen every time I've been on a family day out.

Not.

Seriously? You don't know enough about the Nazis vs. the Jewish ghetto of Varsaw to pass a summary judgement on who's right and who's wrong?

Or on the Palestinians vs. Israel?

Look, I actually appreciate that NI is not an easy situation. And, as opposed to Contra, I wouldn't say "ah, well, the Protestants are the colonialists so they're wrong". When your ancestors have call a place 'home' for 3 centuries, you're part of that country, no matter what. No one is looking through British DNA to send the Normans back to France, are they?

But posting this kind of comments about people who do feel they have legitimate grievance and excusing the Orange marches as "a family day out" (which, i am sure, it also is) does mark you as biased...
