My life depends on so many factors and so many things working out correctly, i can't even begin to count them...

If supply chains break down, i am dead. If water supplies break down, i am dead. If electricity supply stop, i am dead. If internet stops, i can't carry out my job. Etc.

Modern life. We are not self-sufficient. That's pretty much the definition of it.

Thats not the point. I didn't say you have to do everything, only those things which are particularly important to the political arrangements which you inhabit. As per Aristotle, humans are political animals, and when you cede control over politics you cease to be fully human.

I don't see police work as particularly important. I've never actually used their services on a personal basis. Well, once. Trying to report (unsuccessfully!) my stolen wallet.

And yet they are crucially important, for they are that body of the state that exists to control the public, and which is inured to the use of violence against us. Furthermore, if you have no contact with them you can't make informed decisions about them.
