The Front Page Campaign, for example, receives widespread support from feminist activists, yet its motivations seem antithetical to feminist aims. It not only calls for the covers of explicit lads' mags to be covered up, but also those of the "growing number of gay magazines for both men and women".

I don't follow how that's reactionary. Surely, if seeing the cover of "Nuts" provokes massive psychic damage to the young straights, it follows that seeing the cover of "GQ" or "Attitude" should provoke massive psychic damage to the young gays...

That also made me think a bit of that J.G. Ballard (? Subs please check) quote about the most fucked up porn not even looking like porn any more.

Your kid's lingering over Zoo in Tescos? Congratulations on having a normal kid. Some poor fucker's offspring is (while apparently ascetically indifferent to airbrushed tits) getting all sweaty-palmed over the descriptions of witch trials in his school history book or David Attenborough films about the reproductive habits of Serengeti game animals. That's what you want to ban, mate.

Advertisers have to pay to be in the yellow pages, and they have to pay not least because its organised; and consumers accept the aditional costs that are passed on to them for the ease of use it permits.
Telstra is the dominant telecom in Australia and publishes the Yellow Pages and White Pages in editions nationwide. New editions are delivered to our doorstep every year. It is more than 25 years since France Telecom dispensed with paper directories in favour of Minitel terminals and it must be more than a decade since I ever consulted a hard copy directory here. We put ours out for recycling as soon as they arrive and we are not alone in that:

I can only conclude that contracycle needs substantial advice in improving his web search technique.
