I'm not aware of any previous, methologically sound research that has supported any sort of precognition, or any other form of psychic ability. AFAIK there were a very few reseachers, mostly based a well known clique in the US, who made claims for remote viewing and the like, but they have never been regarded as convincing. the US military spent $20 million on remote viewing without concluding that it had achieved anything.

It's an interesting result; I agree that we'll have to see what independent duplication of the experiment produces.

Which no one will bother to do, so we'll be able to dismiss it quite happily. Hurrah for science!

Apparently he got "hundred" of applications for duplication packs.

Remember, a scientist who overturns a prevailing theory has their name up in lights forever. There is no shortage of people willing to investigate unconventional claims.

But a huge shortage of respectable researchers who want to admit on their CVs that they spent a year researching magial mumbo jumbo.

I doubt duplicating such an experiment would take a year. Plus, duplication is as it were a duty, so it would be easily justifiable; after all if the duplications fail to show the same results, that would cast doubt on the "mumbo jumbo". Nor does anyone have to be "respectable"; all they haver to do is follow correct methodology.

Sorry, but I just don't buy this "conspiracy of science" stuff, in any field. Paranormal claims have attracted scientific investigation frequently, so I don't see there is any bias against doing so. I don't expect that scientists are any less interested in the possibility than anyone else might be.

I definately think the researcher is overreaching a ton in claiming that his subjects are influencing the future with their choices. It is equally plausible to suppose that the future is determined and fixed, so psychic viewing of this fixed future does not have to imply psychic causation.

It also strikes me that this proposition is untestable, either way.
