Ridiculous. The prospect of trying to engineer the climate of the very planet we are living on is fraught with risk. Even without mass settlement, having a second planet to study will be of great benefit to understaind how ours works.

It is no more reasonable to insist that humans should stay on earth than it is suggest we should never have migrated out of Africa.
