So sensitive!

I dunno, doesn't seem like one of the core subjects so I assumed that she must have chosen it.

But okay, if you insist I'll revise my statement: some people might suggest that if you don't want to have to think, you might want to avoid going to school...

or perhaps she merely thought it insensitive....
Sarah - whose mother lost a relative in the 2002 Bali bombings - wrote a letter to her teacher refusing to do the assignment.
Jackie - whose mother lost a relative in New Orleans during Katrina- wrote a letter to her teacher refusing to do the assignment on severe weather and hurricane preparedness.

uh, no.....it would have had to have been a paper on how to start a hurricane......you know, traveling to Brazil, finding a butterfly, etc......

I should avoid going to school, because the only way I can learn to think is to plan a terrorist attack?.......

No, but then the only way to learn how to think isn't filling in a page of simultaneous equations and writing a 10 page esay on the role of witchcraft in MacBeth either, but if your teacher tells you to do them you follow intructions in the hope that it'll help you get a more rounded education.

Well either that or you complain that your great great great great great great grandfather was hung at Salem and write to the newspapers accusing your teacher of encouraging witch hunts. I guess it's up to you.

sounds like a good formula for learning how to NOT think.......

Well it does involve accepting that other people might just know better than you, something that most people these days are exceedingly bad at.
