LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police say a man who had likely been drinking was struck and killed after he passed out in the road.
The Lexington Division of Police determined the victim had stopped his Ford Expedition in the northbound lane of Old Frankfort Pike before getting out, vomiting and passing out in the southbound lane.
A Honda Civic traveling south toward Lexington ran over the man who was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the Civic, William McCane, has been charged with reckless homicide, DUI, no registration plates, no insurance and operating a motor vehicle with expired operators license.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
