Hehe... Nice. I can't say that I'm enormously frightened of the fish, but the atmosphere's decent and I really want some cheese on toast now.

ok, hugely embarrassing but i've got to learn to live with it. no point writing without letting someone read it. my initial notes. i'm using this passage as a sort of inspiration:

Quote:
For instance? Well, for instance, what it means to be a man. In a city. In a century. In transition. In a mass. Transformed by science. Under organised power. Subject to tremendous controls. In a condition caused by mechanization. After the failure of radical hopes. In a society that was no community and devalued the person. Owing to the multiplied power of numbers which made the self negligible. Which spent military billions against foreign enemies but would not pay for order at home. Which permitted savagery and barbarism in its own great cities. At the same time, the pressure of human millions who have discovered what concerted efforts and thoughts can do. As megatons of water shape organisms on the ocean floor. As tides polish stones. As winds hollow cliffs. The beautiful supermachinery opening a new life for innumerable mankind.
and this is what i've sketched out very roughly so far. don't ask me what a fish factory is - i've no idea

~~~~
swimming in the sea at night. walking the dales in the autumn.
a fishing factory.
fossils. the jurassic coast. evolution. the supermachinery of nature.
clouds
pressure
population, solitude, teeming life, shoals
self, owen, selphe, selfe, saolf, soelf, seulf
(old english) "a dweller on or near a rock or ledge, such as a riverbank." or a "seawolf"
glasgow, makintosh, futurism
the machine, robot, barbarism, control
science, supermachinery, sublimating the self in art
transformed by science as we are now. listing every scientific intervention that might happen to a man from birth.
how are we transformed by science and how can we get away from it?
he tears himself out of the city and goes wandering along the jurassic coast, he finds a fish factory
he ends up living on a cliff or throwing himself off it?
he's from glasgow. he's a futurist artist. he references mackintosh. he references rand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

comments welcome but please be gentle!

Just to make it clear, this is not my stuff. It is Runefang's. The link at the top should lead you to the relevant thread where he's been posting write-ups of his "Sects and the City" game...

I am "Gilles de Rais" on StS as well, btw...
