I pointed and I shot.
To give a more helpful answer, I use Photoshop Elements for post-processing. It is a cheap, cut-down version of Photoshop, which currently costs $A146, compared with grown-ups' Photoshop, which is $A1,168 or Masters of the Digital Universe Photoshop which is $A1,671.
I have no need for recreating reality features and my modest version allows me to select a portion of a picture (sometimes quickly, sometimes with tiresome effort), and deal with it differently. In the case of this shot the girl was clearly the focus of attention so it made sense to ratchet colour saturation down to zero for the rest of the frame. I tinkered a little with the colour portion of the shot and there it all was.
Here's a shot where I dialed colour saturation to zero for the whole thing and upped contrast:
Here's where I overlaid a shot of the moon on one of the neighbourhood:
And here's one where I used differential post-processing to slightly darken everything except the girl's face, hair and hands:
Most of the time though I just crop and adjust contrast. My stuff is
