David Cameron meets David Hasselhoff in Parliament
David Cameron met an unlikely namesake as former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff took a tour of the Palace of Westminster.
The Prime Minister ran into Hasselhoff - and posed briefly for a photo - as the actor walked near the clock tower housing Big Ben.
Hasselhoff was being shown around Parliament by David Morris, the new Tory MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale who was previously a songwriter for 1980s pop act Stock Aitken Waterman.
The actor, who played Mitch in US beach drama Baywatch, was helping Mr Morris promote a campaign to restore a disused entertainment complex in Morecambe.
Hasselhoff - affectionately nicknamed "The Hoff" by his fans - is rebuilding his career after a series of high-profile troubles.
Three years ago a video clip circulating on the internet showed Hasselhoff in an intoxicated state in a Las Vegas hotel room while his daughter begs him not to drink any more.
He has since admitted being a recovering alcoholic. In November 2009 he spent two days in hospital after reportedly suffering a seizure at his home in Los Angeles.
Over Christmas the former Knight Rider actor starred as Captain Hook in a production of Peter Pan at the New Wimbledon Theatre.
