I can sympathize....I smoked regularly from age 18 to age 58 (though I will confess to everyone except my mother that my first experimental smoking happened at age 8).....I tried quitting hundreds of times...with this I stopped the first day....didn't even finish the pack I had open....

however, I do have some bad news for your friends....as I understand it the Australian government restricts the import of electronic cigarettes.....
