Default electronic cigarettes

I guess this is the closest category for tech news....

I have become fascinated lately by two different technological gadgets that I think are going to have a major impact on society. I will make separate threads for each....

a while back I learned about electronic cigarettes....

this is a nicotine delivery system that does not employ the burning of tobacco....instead, nicotine suspended in an alcohol liquid is heated to produce vapor which is inhaled. You receive the nicotine but not the smoke, tar or carcinogens related to smoking. There is no second hand smoke because there is no first hand smoke. It actually tastes quite good, and is available in hundreds of different flavors including brandy, coffee, lemon, and even bacon.

As a smoker of thirty years I decided to give it a try. It arrived on a Monday and I charged the batteries and inserted the first cartridge. That was four weeks ago and I have not had a cigarette since nor any desire for one. It feels like smoking a cigarette, it looks like smoking a cigarette, it tastes better than smoking a cigarette. You can precisely control the amount of nicotine you use by thinning out the liquid you use in it. I started at 24mg of nicotine and have dropped to 18. They make eliquid down to 0mg for those who like to vape but no longer need nicotine.

I believe that over the next decade vaporing will become more popular than smoking.

For anyone considering trying them, I recommend either the 510 pictured above or the KR8088 as being the easiest to use.

well, I educated myself about them at
E-Cigarette Forum

for purchasing them I would recommend
Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking

a cheap option for trying them out to see if you like them is this
Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: USB Passthru
combined with a pack of cartomizers in your favorite flavor
Vapor King Cartomizers

you will only be able to vape hooked up to a USB, but if you like it you would eventually want to buy one of those anyway to save on charging batteries....

if you like it you can buy eliquid to refill your own carts, it's pretty easy
that's here
http://store.vapor4life.com/Nobacco_Juice_s/35.htm
to equal my previous pack a day habit I go through about 5ml of liquid a week.....at a cost of $2.95....

too bad there isn't a store, shipping adds complications if the parents get to it first. Least I can ditch the nicotine gum.

In German, we say: Wes Brot ich ess, des Lied ich sing (I am singing the song of the one whose bread I am eating).
